Applying to Evergreen
Welcome to The Evergreen School
When you choose Evergreen, you are doing more than selecting an academic program for your child. You’re joining a deeply committed learning community that loves to think, create, and celebrate together.
Step by Step Process
Create an Online Account
The first step is to create an account in Ravenna, the online application system most PSIS independent schools use. In Ravenna, you can register for admission events (tours and the Open House), work on and submit your application, and find all of the information about supplemental documents to complete your child's admission file. Applications are accepted for students entering preschool through 7th grade.
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year will be accepted through Ravenna beginning after Labor Day in early September.
Our application deadline is January 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. If paying the online application fee of $70 is a financial hardship, please contact us at [email protected].
Schedule an IQ Test (K-7th Grade Applicants)
We require students applying to kindergarten through 7th grade to submit the results of an IQ test. Typically, we find that students who thrive and are successful in our program score at or above the 95th percentile. The IQ test is not required for applicants to preschool and prekindergarten, however, it is a required step to continue into our kindergarten program. For more information, please visit our testing page.
Schedule a VIRTUAL CONVERSATION
After your application and fee have been submitted, you will be able to self-register through Ravenna for a 20-minute virtual conversation with a member of the enrollment management team. This is not an interview, but an opportunity to ask specific questions of our team and a chance for us to get to know each other better. Once you have signed up, you will receive an email with additional details.
If you require translation services for this conversation, we are more than happy to provide them; however, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected].
Please note: if you applied to Evergreen during the prior admission season, this conversation is optional. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to waive this required step.
Parent/Guardian Statement
Please submit your parent/guardian statement by January 15, 2026. These Evergreen-specific questions allow us to get to know your child and family better.
Teacher Evaluations and Records Request Forms
Please ask your child’s current school year classroom teacher(s) to complete a Teacher Evaluation Form (accessed through Ravenna).
Grade 4-7 applicants are required to submit TWO teacher evaluations. One must be completed by their current grade level/homeroom teacher. We ask that the second evaluation be completed by an additional current year teacher OR a grade level/homeroom teacher from last year.
It is best to allow teachers plenty of time to complete this step. Please note that we are not able to accept additional evaluations OR recommendation letters beyond what is required.
You will also need to submit a Records Request Form to your child's school. The form is available through Ravenna. (Records are NOT required for applications to preschool, prekindergarten, and kindergarten.)
NOTE: If the teacher would be more comfortable submitting the evaluation in a language other than English, please reach out to us at [email protected] as soon as possible, so that we can arrange translation of the evaluation form.
Additional Steps (5th-7th Grade Applicants)
The Evergreen School has moved to a test-flexible policy for admission testing for applicants applying to grades 5-7. This means we will accept any standardized test results (MAP, ERB, etc.) a student has completed within the prior or current academic years. If an applicant has not taken a standardized test during that time, we require them to submit results from either the ISEE or SSAT.
While some form of testing is required, we recognize that students can demonstrate academic strengths in multiple ways. Standardized testing is just one component of a holistic admission process. At The Evergreen School, test scores are considered alongside many other factors to provide a well-rounded view of each applicant.
In addition to submitting test results, 5th-7th grade applicants will also need to complete the PSIS Common Forms. This includes the Short Answer Form, the Student Essay Form, and the Student Activities Form. All forms are available in Ravenna.

Learn More About Us: Optional Events
Attend the All-School Open House: October 18, 2025
An open house is a great opportunity to meet faculty, including both grade-level and specialist teachers, and to learn more about Evergreen. This year, our preschool through 8th grade All School Open House will take place on the morning of Saturday, October 18 for parents and guardians. Students applying to grades 2 through 7 are welcome to attend together with their parents/guardians.
Participants must register for admission events in advance through Ravenna.
Take a School Tour
We hope you'll consider joining us for a tour of Evergreen. Tours are optional, but a great way for you to get to know our campus and see classrooms in action. Tours will begin with an introduction from Head of School Halsey Bell, followed by a tour of campus with a parent/guardian admission ambassador. We will wrap up with a Q&A with the division head. Please check Ravenna for the latest dates and availability.
Please note: tour spaces are limited, and we are only able to accommodate one tour per family unless you are applying to multiple grades. Please ensure that if you are reserving a tour spot, you are able to attend. If you do not attend your scheduled tour, we are not able to guarantee another reservation.
You will be able to sign up for a tour after Labor Day in early September.
