The Opportunity:
Evergreen is seeking a prekindergarten teacher who is responsible for teaching a culturally responsive, Reggio-inspired curriculum. The successful candidate will have a collaborative approach to curriculum planning and teach an engaging early learning program to highly capable students with individual learning styles and needs. The prekindergarten teacher will utilize a wide range of instructional strategies and resources, including project-based and experiential learning opportunities specific to young learners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Early Learning team to develop and implement a cohesive culturally responsive, Reggio-inspired curriculum and lesson plans for highly capable PK students. This includes identifying and selecting instructional resources and methods to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with the Early Learning team as well as the counselor, learning specialists, division head, and parents about students’ progress.
- Create a positive classroom culture that centers on our community values of respect and inclusivity.
- Regularly assess students’ progress by observing and evaluating performance and development, and providing appropriate feedback to students, their parents, and colleagues.
- Consistently communicate and document clear objectives for all learning activities to maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Attend school, department, team, and parent meetings.
- Participate in certain events outside the school day, such as back-to-school orientation and curriculum night.
- Maintain knowledge of and competency in relevant classroom technology and have a passion for recent developments in teaching resources and methods, with the flexibility to incorporate changes into instructional plans and activities.
- Be strictly vigilant about confidentiality, student health and safety, and follow state health, safety, and licensing requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree
- A teaching certificate with an early childhood endorsement is preferred
- A master’s degree is preferred
- 2-3 years of early learning teaching experience
- Experience or working knowledge of Reggio Emilia approach
- Experience working with highly capable learners preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Experience/working knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching early learning
- Possess a high degree of cultural competency and demonstrated success in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledgeable and appreciative of the developmental needs of prekindergarten students.
- Driven to teaching excellence with a firm grasp of teaching responsibilities and reflective about personal teaching practices.
- Positively supports the school’s mission while managing the demands of curriculum and lesson planning, teaching, collaboration, and parent communications.
- Establishes a healthy rapport with students while motivating and facilitating students’ growth and identity development.
- Draws from a variety of culturally responsive curriculum sources and skilled in differentiating among students with clear methods to appropriately challenge highly capable students.
- Able to communicate clearly, effectively, and comfortably with a diverse and inclusive independent school community including students, parents, and colleagues both inside and outside the classroom.
- Utilizes technology to enhance student learning and documentation of student work
- Respectfully maintains a high degree of confidentiality and integrity while exhibiting a professional manner and building constructive working relationships.
- Can report to work at the scheduled time and seldom be absent from work.
- Completes work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments and deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds in connection with job duties such as assisting with classroom setup or moving materials.
- Ability to stand, sit, and move comfortably throughout classrooms and school hallways for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs, navigate uneven surfaces, and escort students as needed between locations within and outside school buildings.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
- Evening and weekend work may be required at times
Position Details:
This is a full-time temporary position that is not eligible for benefits,beginning August 20, 2025 and continuing through December 19, 2025. This position will be expected to work in person Monday-Friday. The position will be paid a prorated portion of an annual salary in the range of $69,788 to $123,232 per year, depending upon degree(s) and years of experience.
