Evergreen's Buddy Program, Pandemic Version

December 9th, 2021

Evergreen's Buddy Program has long been a beloved part of the school, and it's one of the many ways we build community all the way from preschool through 8th grade. But since reopening in person in fall of 2020, we've been strict about keeping student cohorts separate. So managing a successful buddy program was yet another challenge teachers faced this year.

It turns out that it takes creativity to figure out buddy activities when your buddies are in a different cohort, but it can be done! We've had lots of "meetings" with buddies on opposite sides of big windows, playing games and doing art projects. These prekindergarten and 4th grade classes had another fun idea. Separately, students took photos against the green screen, and then they turned them into fun joint images like this one!
