An All-Day Exploration of Native Art for 4th & 5th Grades

March 23rd, 2023

Today was a special day in 4th and 5th grades. Rather than following their usual schedules, Intermediate students for the second year in a row had Native Art Day, with special guest visiting artists and teachers from the Makah tribe. They learned about Makah culture and worked on several projects, including printing and line and form drawing. They also tried out a Makah community dance, which they performed with younger grades who joined in too. By design, the dance speeds up as it progresses, ending with participants scrambling to keep up!
