Choosing Evergreen
When you choose Evergreen, you’re doing much more than selecting an academic program for your child. You’re joining a deeply committed learning community that loves to think, create, and celebrate with all our children.
Together, we help raise exceptionally insightful, self-aware, intelligent young people who go on to thrive in high school, college, and career—and embrace their roles as local and global citizens.
At Evergreen, we emphasize greater depth over increased speed, differentiating instruction to make the most of each child’s talents and interests. Students who thrive at Evergreen often show high levels of curiosity, divergent thinking, imagination, and empathy, among other traits.
We’re happy to help you decide if Evergreen is right for your child. You may wish to start with the frequently asked questions below. And please feel free to contact us.

Characteristics of highly capable children include:

Because analytic intelligence is one measure that we consider, we require that all children entering kindergarten and above take an IQ test.
For the upcoming school year, we will be enrolling one preschool class, two prekindergarten classes, and three kindergarten classes. Spaces will be available in all three of those grade levels (typically 14 new spaces per grade). Additionally, we generally add three spaces to our 1st grade.
We have limited openings in grades 2 through 5, based on attrition. We typically add more new students in 6th grade as an entry point for our middle school.
Applications open every year in early September, and the application deadline is in mid-January (for students to start school the following fall). Each year, this website and the online Ravenna system will list the exact deadlines.
