Head of School Transition

An Important Transition for the 2020-2021 School Year

From Head of School Ronnie Codrington-Cazeau

After seven years, it is bittersweet for me to announce that this will be my final year at Evergreen. Next year, I will be moving on to lead University Prep, a 6th through 12th-grade school in Seattle, in the next stage of their development.
Leaving a community like Evergreen will not be easy. That is why I am so glad to have one more year here and help ensure a smooth handover to our next head of school.
In my seven years as head, we have accomplished so much together. This work has been exciting and visionary, and we owe that to our talented faculty, staff and administrators, to our supportive community of parents and guardians, and to our talented and committed Board of Trustees.
I look forward to sharing one more school year with the Evergreen community.
With much appreciation,
Ronnie Codrington-Cazeau
Head of School
From Board Chair Danielle Ruthfield

Following a unanimous vote by the Evergreen Board of Trustees, I am thrilled to announce that Halsey Bell, Evergreen's current Upper Division Head, will become Evergreen's fourth Head of School, succeeding current Head Ronnie Codrington-Cazeau.

This transition will take place in July 2020, giving Ronnie and Halsey one school year to work together setting Evergreen's path going forward.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Ronnie for her leadership and tireless commitment to Evergreen. Under her leadership and in partnership with the board, we have transformed our campus, implemented an ambitious five-year strategic plan, raised $20 million, quadrupled our endowment and received nine major commendations in our reaccreditation—an incredible testament to the strength of our school and community. We have grown in so many ways, yet have retained the essence of what makes Evergreen unique.
Halsey is a visionary leader who already has a deep understanding of the Evergreen community, along with exciting ideas for the future and a wealth of experience, both academic and administrative. We are all looking forward to continuing to work with him in his new capacity of head of school.
This is an exciting time for The Evergreen School, and I am looking forward to our future together.
