Overview

We are committed to making Evergreen accessible to qualified students regardless of their financial circumstances. Last year, we awarded over $1.2 million in financial assistance to approximately 16% of our student body.

Financial aid is determined based on demonstrated financial need when comparing the student’s educational expenses with the family’s ability to pay. Any family with students entering prekindergarten through 8th grade may apply. Admission and financial aid decisions are made independently.

Note: Financial aid is not available for students entering preschool.

How We Determine Financial Aid

We use FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment (FACTS) to evaluate applications. Using their assessment and the other materials submitted, the Financial Aid Committee determines how much assistance can be offered to a family based on our overall budget. Awards are made to students in good standing based upon the family’s financial need.

FAQ

List of 7 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: Who is eligible?

Financial aid awards are available, depending on availability of funds, to children enrolled in prekindergarten through 8th grade who have submitted all required documents by the deadline to determined by the school.
  • Q: How are financial aid decisions made?

The Evergreen School Financial Aid Committee determines awards based on the FACTS online form information, tax information, the amount of financial aid available in a given year, and the number of families requesting financial aid.
  • Q: When are financial aid decisions made?

    • For students currently attending The Evergreen School, award notifications are sent in mid-February 2019.
    • For students newly admitted to The Evergreen School, award notifications are sent with the applicant’s acceptance letter on March 15, 2019.
  • Q: Income and disclosure

Parents are expected to provide full disclosure of all assets and income sources when completing the financial aid application. These resources include funds from relatives or friends, limited partnerships, assets of a closely held corporation or any other income producing enterprise. The Evergreen School considers parent signatures on the FACTS form and the financial aid notification letter to signify full disclosure of all financial resources. Lack of disclosure may result in the invalidation and withdrawal of a financial aid award.

The Evergreen School believes that separated or divorced parents or partners are obligated to contribute to the educational expenses of their child(ren), regardless of the existence of legal documents asserting otherwise. As a part of the financial aid application, divorced parents must supply the school with their Court Order of Child Support, and each adult living in the child’s custodial household must complete a FACTS online form, all tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Q: Should I apply for financial aid?

Evergreen would like to provide firm guidelines to help you decide whether to apply for aid, but we have found that each family’s combination of circumstances is unique regarding spending priorities, family earnings and tuition level. The most helpful guideline comes from your own knowledge of your family’s finances. There are so many factors that determine an award that it is difficult to predict eligibility. If during the school year family circumstances change or you have other questions, do not hesitate to contact Chief Financial Officer Debbie Rizzi at drizzi@evergreenschool.org or 206.957.1526.
  • Q: Do I have to reapply for financial aid each year?

Yes, each year a family must reapply for financial aid by the stated deadlines in order for a new award to be considered.
  • Q: How can I get help with the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment online form?

If you need assistance in completing the online form please contact FACTS at 800.390.4690. For help with any other part of the financial aid process, please contact Chief Financial Officer Debbie Rizzi at 206.957.1526.
