David Kline, accomplished actor, writer, and director, teaches drama to children of all ages. He has directed summer theatre programs as well as founded and managed theatre companies for 25 years now. This is David's 5th year directing Evergreen's Summer Performing Arts Program.
 
David remains actively involved in community theatre programs casting, writing, directing, and acting. He has many years of experience teaching improvisational theatre and has won an Emmy for his writing. David is currently teaching drama at Bellevue High School. David will be directing the following performing arts program.

The class focuses on different ways to use our bodies to express different emotions, thoughts, and feelings. Students will act as characters and create scenes through a variety of creative movement games. The characters will form a story and the story will be presented as a play on the final day.

Green Room Players


 

What is scarier than walking on stage in front of an audience and having to say lines? Walking on stage in front of an audience and having no lines to say! Welcome to the Green Room Player Improvisation Group. The students in this class will learn the fastest growing performing art form in the world, improvisation. Taught by award winning improvisationalist, David Kline, the class takes students safely through the six rules of improv and character development while playing countless amounts of fun improv games. This class is always a hit!

Stage Crew

Students will learn the hands on skills of set construction, lights, sound, and the process of running a show. Students will run all the tech back stage for the Musical Theatre Workshop. Students love this class for the ensemble work and hands on approach to this art form. This is the perfect class for a child who loves the theatre, but does not want to be on stage.

Musical Dance Workshop

Everyone loves to dance! Students can learn to dance just like the pros! This class takes the student through a professional dance rehearsal concentrating on student improvement and self esteem. The class combines hip hop, jazz, and music theatre to create an all new, never before seen dance routine. Students should dress in loose clothing and bring a water bottle for frequent water breaks. The class is fast, fun, and inclusive of all skill levels. We make better students through better dancers.

Staged Combat & Movement

Learn how the professionals make all the dazzling fake fights in films look real. The class safely teaches the basics of stage combat techniques and tricks. Students will get the opportunity to safely learn hand-to-hand stage combat, martial art moves, and some sword work. The class is designed to give students a safe environment to learn and explore the fun and physical work of stage combat. Instructors are professional actors trained in both stage combat and martial arts.
