A Jurassic Week

Exploring the land and time of dinosaurs! Students will learn how a paleontologist digs up fossils and then they will practice digging up their own fossils. Different types of dinosaurs will be discussed and where evidence of them has been found. This humongous week will be full of fun and adventure.

Puget Sound Sea Life
 

The week will be spent discovering the many wonders of our Puget Sound sea life. Each student will make their own sea life book which will contain fun facts about different animals. Lots of discussion, facts, and exploration this week all about the Puget Sound.

Puppets Galore

A week full of make and take puppets. Students will learn how to create different forms of puppets including hand pupets, paper bag puppets, sock puppets, and shadow puppets. Throughout the week they will choose to either create their own puppet shows or follow a story book. We'll be using many different things to make creative props for the puppets. By the end of the week, the students will have prepared their own puppet show.

Chinese Culture

Learn about China ! Explore the tastes, sounds, designs, and artwork of China in this hands-on class. Students will learn Chinese songs and Chinese words, make Chinese-inspired crafts, play traditional Chinese games, and taste Chinese food.

Beginning Chess for Girls and Boys

Join us for this fun, fantastic week-long chess lessons! Children at the beg. and beg. intermediate levels may enroll. Leo and Lori are highly skilled at teaching and working with children at their appropriate chess playing levels. Children will study and learn basic skills of the game then practice through friendly, competitive play in the afternoons. Plenty of recess and playtime work into these mornings allowing the children to rejuvenate their minds for each unique week of chess instruction. Very beginning chess students and/or children with developing attention spans may enjoy the relaxing half-day week of chess.

Literature Based Arts, Math, and Crafts

Stories, folktales, and fairy tales are so much fun to read, but they are even more fun when you get to act them out, make props, crafts, and solve story problems along the way! Students will work at their own comfort level and participate in a variety of activities that will begin with new stories each day. This should be a fun way to build confidence and skills in math and creative thinking.

World Cooking

Students will be learning how to make simple dishes from several different cultures. Their kitchen experiences will be supplemented by fun activities highlighting the region the food comes from. Students enjoy this scientific, week-long, hands-on spider experience! Spiders are a very important part of our ecosystem, the class will discuss and explore “why”.
