Giving to Evergreen

The Development program focuses on building relationships between the school and its constituencies, to engage the community in advancing the mission of The Evergreen School. The Development Committee of the Board of Trustees works closely with the Director of Development and Head of School to establish fund raising policy and goals. The Development Office staff is responsible for overseeing fund raising, special events, public relations, and alumni relations.

The Auction and Annual Giving Program raises funds for the current operating budget. The Endowment is for long-term initiatives and programs.

Annual Support Beyond Tuition

To keep The Evergreen School more affordable, tuition is approximately $1,500 less per student than the actual cost of providing each student with the individualized attention and excellent teaching that is the foundation of an Evergreen education.

Here are some of the many ways that you can help support The Evergreen School:

Annual Giving Program
The Evergreen School Annual Giving Program provides income to the operating budget to help contain the cost of tuition. The funds raised support such budget items as instructional costs, faculty compensation, technology, professional development and financial aid to students. The Annual Giving Program begins in the fall with the Write-A-Thon and Phone-A-Thon, both of which are conducted by Evergreen Board and parent volunteers. Please follow the links above to view more specific information about the options available to supporters. For your convenience, there is a printable version of the Annual Giving pledge form in the menu in the top right sidebar of this page.

Auction
The Evergreen School Auction is an annual all-school event sponsored by the Parent Association. The theme of the 2007-08 Auction is African Splendor, and the event will be held on Saturday, March 29 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. The Auction raises money for Evergreen's operating expenses and a portion of the proceeds includes the Fund-An-Item, which raises money to support a specific program or item. Past Fund-An-Items have included the performing arts and sports programs, science programming, equipment and furnishings for the new theatre and gym, and technology. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and to procure or contribute items. If you would like to donate an item or receive an invitation, please e-mail auction@evergreenschool.org.

The Evergreen School Endowment
The purpose of The Evergreen School Endowment is to uphold academic excellence and provide enduring financial benefits to students, faculty, staff, programs and facilities. To uphold the school's mission in the future, and meet short-term goals outlined in the strategic plan, the Board of Trustees created the Endowment. It was designed to provide sustainable benefits to the school in four critical areas of need: Financial Aid, Professional Development, Enrichment/Outreach, and Stewardship of Campus Assets. Donors may also choose to contribute to an unrestricted fund, which dedicates donations toward the areas of greatest need.

Global Studies Fund Raisers
Each year, the eighth-grade students raise funds for the Global Awareness Program through special fund raisers such as plant and wrapping paper sales.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Evergreen School encourages parents and others to volunteer in the classroom and at school functions. Parents, grandparents, special friends and extended family are all welcome to become volunteers at Evergreen. We believe your child benefits from seeing you and other loved ones as part of their school community. We appreciate any time you may have to offer.

Some of the major areas are classroom helper, general office help, field trip drivers and special events. The Development Office has a listing of special events that need volunteer support.
