Designated Areas of Need

Financial Aid
Our 2005 strategic plan states that "we will build and sustain an inclusive community through active recruitment of highly capable students." Through the Endowment, Evergreen will be able to fund programs for recruiting and admitting students from underrepresented populations. This means we can offer additional financial aid assistance to more families whose children are academically qualified to attend Evergreen.

Professional Development
Our school's success is a direct result of the strength of its faculty and staff. In order to attract and retain the best possible educators, we must offer fresh opportunities for professional development and growth. We will strive to employ highly-skilled professionals who are innovative in their approach and are highly respected by their peers. We are committed to providing faculty with competitive compensation and opportunities for ongoing professional development. Excellence in education depends first and foremost upon the people who teach our children.

Enrichment/Outreach
Enrichment funds will support and expand existing distinguished programs such as the Global Field Study and our Environmental progam; and at the same time, help fund the creation of innovative new programs. Funds designated for outreach allow Evergreen to explore ways in which the school's unique curriculum for highly capable students can be shared with the larger community. Further, we will explore ways in which Evergreen's programs and curriculum could be enhanced through relationships with universities and other entities that research the ways highly capable children learn.

Campus Stewardship
The Evergreen School community has worked together to develop the campus facilities and physical plant we now enjoy. In addition, the school's award-winning environmental stewardship is an integral part of school life. We have come a long way from a motley collection of trailers and portables. We anticipate that maintaining, upgrading and expanding/enhancing these facilities over the long term will be a fundamental part of supporting the people and programs which distinguish the school. To that end, this portion of our Endowment will specifically support the stewardship of the existing campus assets, and over time build a sufficient fund to support campus improvements and expansion as needed.

Unrestricted
"Unrestricted" endowment generates income which can be used at the discretion of the school, applying your contribution where there is the greatest need. While it is often easier to raise funds for restricted endowments, unrestricted endowment funds enable Evergreen to respond to pressing needs and capture new opportunities.
