Frequently Asked QuestionsThe Endowment has been established to serve five specific uses, based upon the goals of The Evergreen School's Strategic Plan. These are Financial Aid, Professional Development, Enrichment/Outreach, Stewardship of Campus Assets and an Unrestricted Fund for areas where there is greatest need. Yes. In fact, we ask that you designate what percentage of your gift you'd like to direct to each of the Endowment's five categories. You may apportion your gift among any or all. Yes. Please contact endowment@evergreenschool.org, for minimum donation amount and specifics on creating a named Endowment fund. The initial campaign goal is to raise $5 million over three years. The forEvergeen Fund donations are used toward the school's operations each year, and its income is part of the school's annual budget. Endowment gifts are invested; not spent to provide resources for the long term. Only an allotted percentage of the Endowment's investment income may be used each year, and only for the Endowment's stated purposes. The school's Investment Committee will be responsible for Endowment fund investments, directed by policies approved by the school's Finance Committee. Both committees' policies are subject to review and approval by the Board of Trustees. The Investment Committee's conservative approach has been very successful in shepherding the school's investments under varying market conditions. We are hoping for a three year commitment to both the Endowment and forEvergreen, but payment schedules can be tailored to fit your needs. Absolutely. The Endowment is ongoing and pledges can be made at any
time. Contributions to the Endowment can come in many forms, including
planned giving, equities, or cash donations. Outside foundations and corporations look for participation and commitment
from the school community before they will consider donating to any
fund raising campaign. Foundations and corporations will be approached
only after the Evergreen community has demonstrated such commitment. |
