Strong Beginnings
Our primary students mix and remix throughout a day, flowing from reading and writing stories, through music or science lab, into math and analytical skills; Art, laughter, and movement charging the air. Ask a child to say what was the best part of her day, and the answer is, "Everything!" The affection and joy here are infectious.

In grades 1 and 2, we group children together in mixed-age classes. Emergent readers work alongside those on a fifth grade level, while another student works one-on-one with a teacher or a parent on sight words and phonics exercises. This unique curriculum and approach encourages individual gifts, while also providing an emotional haven for the capable learner not yet ready to deal with the social sophistication of older students.

What one sees is abundant excitement and eagerness.

The primary grades lay the foundation for strong work habits, study skills and a passion for learning. Our students learn leadership, abstract thinking and valuable social/emotional skills in a cooperative, goal-oriented environment.
