Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, Ed.D. is a cognitive neuroscientist and educational psychologist who studies the brain bases of emotion, social interaction and culture and their implications for development and schools. She is an Assistant Professor of Education at the Rossier School of Education and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Brain and Creativity Institute, University of Southern California, where she was formerly a joint postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Robert Rueda and Antonio Damasio. She is the Associate Editor for North America for the journal Mind, Brain and Education, and the inaugural recipient of the Award for Transforming Education through Neuroscience, co-sponsored by the International Mind, Brain and Education Society (IMBES) and the Learning and the Brain Conference. Rena F. Subotnik, PhD is the Director of the Center for Gifted Education Policy at the American Psychological Association. Dr. Subotnik has been awarded grants from numerous foundations including the Institute for Education Sciences, the American Psychological Foundation, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Education Javits program and more. She is co-editor of Developing Giftedness and Talent Across the Life Span, Research Methods for Gifted Education, Optimizing Student Success with the Other Three R's: Reasoning, Resilience and Responsibility among others. She is the first author of Genius Revisited: High IQ Children Grown Up. Dr. Subotnik was the 2002 recipient of the National Association for Gifted Children NAGC Distinguished Scholar award, and from 1977 - 1984, she was a gifted education specialist in the Seattle Public Schools.
