The Evergreen School Library

Our spacious facility includes a library skills classroom area and cozy window seats for enjoying the best in children's literature. Students are welcome in the library at any time from 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Student access to materials is not restricted by age. K-8 Students may check out as many books as they wish for two weeks. Preschool and Prekindergarten students check out books to stay in their classrooms, or go home with the help of a parent, for two weeks. Over 500 volumes circulate each week.

Our Collection
The library houses a collection of over 20,000 volumes, making it the largest single K-8 collection in the region. Approximately 1000 new books are added to the collection each year. Proceeds from the Book Fair, held twice each year, help with these additions. The entire catalog is automated and may be searched from terminals using the Destiny system. All of the user terminals have Internet access. Students may use the computers freely for assignments after completing a use permit.

The hallway just outside the Library now houses the Parent and Staff Resource Collection, which contains over 1000 volumes and several professional journals.

Evergreen families, faculty and staff can access the online library catalog here.

Library Skills
Our students learn to effectively use the Library for both research and personal use. Formal library instruction begins in Grade 3 with introductions to library use, the online catalog, and the Dewey Decimal system, but all students beginning in Preschool utilize its services.

NOTICE OF NONDISCRIMINATORY POLICY AS TO STUDENTS
The Evergreen School does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or physical abilities in the administration of our admission and education policies, scholarship and financial aid programs, or athletic and other school administered programs.
